Conroe @ 4.95GHz

Kinc and Crotale have done it again! This time they've managed to overclock a Conroe X6800, with liquid nitrogen, to 4.95Ghz. It produced the second lowest SuperPi time ever at 10.375 seconds. The OC they obtained was limited by the motherboard since 4.95Ghz was the highest frequency it could obtain.

GeForce 7300GT vs. Radeon X1300 Pro

The GeForce 7300GT is by far the best budget graphics card ever. It boasts a heap of rendering pipelines with modest core and memory frequencies that allow a good amount of overclocking. The Radeon x1300 Pro is running close to its maximum clocks and only has 4 pipelines. The 7300GT, at default settings, still seems to be faster than the Radeon x1300 Pro in gaming anyway.

AMD Sempron 2800+ AM2 Overclocking

The only new feature of the AM2 Semprons is that they support dual-channel DDR2 RAM. So there should be only a small difference in performance between the s754 and s940 Semprons. DDR2 has struggled to outperform the original DDR standard, so should you expect a huge leap in performance from DDR2?

Prolonging the Graphics Life of Your AGP Machine

If you built a high-end rig a few years ago, a 3Ghz cpu is still competitive for single-threaded apps, low-latency DDR400 is still runs strong against DDR2 and AGP8x bandwidth is still enough for any game out now. Minus dual-core cpus and multi-threaded apps, only graphics processors have seen any performance leaps. The gaming world is moving all away from the AGP interface regardless of performance. Seeing how many don't have enough to buy a whole new system, they may have enough to just upgrade their GPU. Radeon x1600 Pro AGP Review @ Tom's Hardware
